🎡 The song for this post is The Scavenger, by Lifeformed for the game Tunic. 🎡

I spent a surpising amount of my 3-day weekend playing Tunic: I yelled at the screen, got impatient, got hooked, yelled at the screen again, smiled a lot, thought a lot. I expected to do a That Consumption Life post lumping this in with other games I recently played, but decided to make this its own post because it turns out I have a lot of reactions to it.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://morepablo.com/2023/01/tunic.html

I went back and beat the base-stats gauntlet fight legitimately in one pass, without using VM memory snapshots this time. It took 7 attempts, which is way fewer than the 20-30 deaths the last time I tried it. I guess it’s a combination of being more willing to use different weapon and item strategies, being more analytical about how to play, and maybe me being a little better at these sorts of games now.

I’m still not interested in fighting the Heir legitimately because I’m happy with having completed the puzzle ending in my primary playthrough, and the Heir fight looked like it would be a waste of my time when I tried it with infinite health just to see how it worked.
