There’s something very dysfunctionally, even toxically, male about the inability to admit and sit in hopelessness. Waiting is often reminiscent of hopelessness “what else can I do?”
Some of this has to do with the literal neutral state of our bodies - are we actually relaxed when we are waiting? Are we aligned in spine and core so that simply “waiting” is effortless?
If not, we tend to move to do something to relieve the muscle itch. Some of this gets into the feeling of safety in sitting and being still too.
